I. What the HCIC-630 Is

The scissor hoist for dump trailer is the largest unit in our American power hoist line. Industrial grade. Built for the loads that smaller hoists refuse.

It is a scissor-type amplifying frame: crossed steel arms, a hydraulic cylinder at the center, a 24-inch cross beam on top. The cylinder spreads the arms; the arms multiply the stroke into lift. At 65.75 inches of max extension, it raises a full tandem-axle dump body high enough to clear wet clay and heavy aggregate clean.

This is not a truck accessory. This is a piece of material-handling infrastructure that bolts under a commercial body and works for years.

The 24-inch cross beam carries the dump body across its full width at full tilt. The 37.50-inch mounting distance spreads the pivot load over a longer chassis section — that is what keeps a long tandem frame from flexing when the load breaks loose. The 25-inch cylinder stroke, amplified through the scissor arms, produces the 65.75-inch raise.

Compare the footprint to the 310: mounting distance 37.50" vs 28.50", front width 22.50" vs 14.25". The 630 is a different animal. If your chassis was built for a smaller hoist, this one will not fit without frame work. That is by design.

III. How It Lifts — Breakout and Amplification

Two forces matter in a dump hoist: breakout force and holding geometry.

Breakout** is the initial push that cracks the load loose — the moment when wet aggregate decides whether it wants to slide or stay stuck. The 630's short, thick scissor arms at low angle generate maximum mechanical advantage right at that moment. This is where most hoists die: a frame that flexes during breakout sends the body twisting sideways.

Holding geometry** is what happens after the load starts moving. The crossed arms keep the body centered over the chassis through the entire arc. On soft ground or a crowned road, the body stays square. A telescopic ram cannot do this — it pushes in one line and lets the body hunt for balance.

The 630 is engineered for the 10 degrees where everything goes wrong, and it does that with steel, not electronics.

IV. Construction Details

4.1 The Amplifying Frame

The frame takes its worst load at breakout, every single cycle. A manual weld with a cold lap fails in the first sub-zero winter. The robot lays the same full-penetration bead on unit 1 and unit 500.

4.2 Pivot Joints

  • Induction-hardened pins
  • Oversized bushings
  • Grease zerks at every joint, positioned for access

Induction hardening takes the pin surface to deep hardness while the core stays tough. A soft pin shears under lateral load; a fully hard pin cracks. The hardened case resists wear, the tough core resists shear, the oversized bushing spreads the contact pressure.

4.3 Hydraulic Integration

The hoist is optimized as a system with our power units. When the power unit and hoist are sized together, the lift is linear — steady speed from first inch to last, no surge, no slam. On a high-cycle roll-off truck, that linearity is what keeps the frame from being beaten to death.

Construction dump trailers.Wet clay, heavy aggregate, sticky loads that shift weight mid-dump. The 630's centered load path handles the shift without twisting the body.

Agricultural grain bodies.Rapid, stable tipping in muddy fields. Grain moves fast when it lets go — the body has to stay square while 20 tons slides out.

Industrial waste roll-offs.High-cycle equipment that runs all day. Zero tolerance for downtime, so the joints are built to be greased, not replaced.

Mining and heavy construction. With upgraded alloy steel, the 630 takes the abuse of mine duty.

VI. Sizing — Is the 630 Right for Your Chassis?

The 630 fits chassis built for a 37.50-inch mounting distance and a body that needs the 65.75-inch raise. Before you order:

1. Measure the mounting distance on your frame rails (B = 37.50")

2. Check the available depth at the mount (D = 9.75")

3. Confirm the raised height clears your body configuration (E = 65.75")

4. Verify your hydraulic system delivers the flow the 25-inch stroke needs to cycle fast

If your numbers do not match, we will tell you. The 520 or 620 may fit better, or we build a custom variant. A hoist that does not fit is scrap steel with a warranty.

A: Dimensionally no. The 630 needs a 37.50-inch mounting distance; the 416 runs 29.00 inches. Retrofitting means frame modification. Our engineers can run a fitment audit on your chassis before you commit.

Q: What power unit does the 630 need?

A: A 24V DC unit, PU-4500 class, with flow matched to the 25-inch stroke. We package hoist + power unit + hoses as one order so the system is sized correctly.
