Slide Cylinder For Rear Loader Garbage Truck
Product Description
Product Detail
I. What This Cylinder Does
A slide cylinder for rear loader garbage truck has a slide mechanism that moves packed waste toward the rear of the body — making room for the next load. The L-HYC00905 is the cylinder that drives that slide panel.
It is one of the biggest slide cylinders in our rear loader line: 5.5-inch bore, 2.5-inch rod, 37-inch stroke. The numbers tell you it is built for volume — the trucks that run full routes, load after load, and cannot afford a cylinder that quits halfway through the day.
II. Verified Specifications

| Stroke | 37" |
| Application | L Slide Cylinder (rear loader) |
III. What the Numbers Mean
- 5.5" bore. The force. This is the largest bore in the rear loader slide cylinder family. The slide panel moves a body full of packed waste — dense, heavy, and not interested in moving. The 5.5-inch bore delivers the push force to keep the panel traveling when the load is packed tight.
- 2.5" rod.The strength. When the panel is being pulled back for the next cycle, the rod is in tension. When it pushes packed waste, the rod is in compression. The 2.5-inch rod handles both without flexing.
- 37" stroke. The travel. Long enough to move the panel the full length of its travel arc inside the body — making room for each new load.
IV. Built for the Rear Loader Job
This cylinder lives inside the body of a garbage truck — not in a clean shop, in the refuse stream. It sees:
- Dust and grit from packed waste, on every cycle
- Moisture and leachate from wet garbage
- Temperature swings from winter salt to summer heat
- High cycle counts — dozens of slides per route, every route
Two things keep it alive:
- The rod surface.Hard, smooth, corrosion-resistant. On a cylinder that works inside the waste stream, rod quality is the difference between a smooth slide and a scored, weeping rod.
- The seal package. The seal and wiper keep dust and moisture out of the cylinder. When the seals go, the cylinder starts bypassing — and a bypassing slide cylinder loses force, which means the truck stops packing.
Every L-HYC00905 slide cylinder for rear loader garbage truck are pressure-tested before it leaves the plant. The test record ships with the unit.
